Choosing the right Rhode Island home inspector can be difficult. Different RI home inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience, reporting methods, and yes, different pricing.

Quality Matters

Rhode island does currently have a license in place. Choose a licensed home inspector, better yet, chooses two. Over the years I have heard horror stories of home buyers receiving sub standard home inspections from unqualified or incompetent individuals that subsequently cost them thousands of dollars in unexpected repairs. Do yourself a favor and get a qualified professional Home Inspector in RI.

As a local Rhode Island home inspector, (CMI), and business owner, I bring the level of service you deserve. You should strongly consider two factors when choosing your home inspector. Are they local, and more importantly is my inspector competent?

Going local with your home inspection service is a good idea for a couple reasons. First you don’t want any “fly by night guys”. I have operated under my name for years and only operate locally. I am a licensed home inspector with the state of RI, so is Steve. I encourage you to look up our impeccable record. If I wasn’t good at what I do, word would get around and I’d surely be in a different line of work, especially in Rhode Island. You can always call and get a person, never getting the old run around. Second, if you hire an inspector employed by a national syndicate, you are paying a middleman and not necessarily getting an inspector with a real vested interest in you, the client. Many franchise firms don’t even meet the state required minimum standard, neve mind going above and beyond like us.  Check out online reviews as well.

I choose to affiliate with an organization that  has high standards of practice. A good RI home inspector will be affiliated with an organization such as this. I chose to affiliate with an association founded by an experienced inspector looking to make this industry be held to the highest standards. Nick Gromicko founded NACHI as an inspection advocate and military vet himself, I found an ally. I am certified through and affiliated with interNACHI (www.nachi.org ). I operate my own business and I believe in providing quality work for a fair price.

I have also earned the designation of Certified Master Inspector (CMI). This is the highest designation in my field. Its like CPA for accountants.

InterNACHI has a rigorous home inspector certification requirement, one of the most challenging in the industry. So much so that only about 10% of applicants are accepted and able to maintain certifications. I’m required to, not only pass a certification exam each year, but am required to continue my education constantly and be tested in those areas as well. In addition to the certification they provide, they can also be a resource where I can connect with my colleagues nation wide and share ideas, answer questions, and help make the home inspection industry better.

One thing for sure is that a home inspection requires work and great attention to detail. Ultimately a thorough RI home inspection depends heavily on the individual home inspector’s own effort. If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your home, or prospective home, I guarantee that I will give you my very best effort. This I promise you.
