Hi friends,

Now that we are into fall its time to get to those last few outdoor projects before its too cold. You want o concentrate on a few things: and damaged wood, loose safety grab rails or stair treads, and crevices that water may enter. The cold weather will bring ice that makes all these conditions worse.

Often times, during home inspections, I see things that could have been done to prepare the home. These items will make the inspection go quicker. Clear space for access to mechanicals such as the electric panel, water heater repair service. All to often, I spend time moving personal belongings in a self storage facility or navigating an over furnished basement to inspect these areas. The seller making easy access to these areas will lead to a quicker inspection time, and I’m less likely to have to state that I could not fully access the item (telling a buyer that something was not inspected fully, is a sure fire scare tactic, we’re not trying to do this).

The other important thing is to have your snow blower tuned up. We can get snow in late October or November, better be prepared.  While you’re at it, go though the shed and find your shovel and salt bucket.

Last item, make certain your outside light is working, its nearly Halloween.
